Uttarakhand Power Policy

• For the first time, renewable power has been included in power policy and reparation had been given in royalty.
• Solar Power, Biomass Power, Urban Solid waste power, Geo Thermal Power and wind mill power has been included in renewable power.
• Hydroelectricity projects upto 25 megawatt will be allotted to the local entrepreneur.
• The projects with capacity of 5 megawatt will be given relaxation in Royalty for 15 years and from the 16th year 18% royalty will be charged.
• The rate of premium has been reduced from Rs.5 Lakh per megawatt to Rs.5000 per application. Processing fees has been fixed Rs.25000 only.
• Hydroelectricity power projects of 1000 kilowatt to 5 megawatt has been reserved for cooperative societies, power societies, institutions running Volant and registered societies of Uttarakhand.
• The projects upto 1000 kilowatt, in place of joining with grid, will be allotted to local people on priority basis.
• Projects of 5 megawatt to 25 megawatt will be allotted to the private sector.
• Uttarakhand Power Corporation is fully authorized to purchase the produced power from projects or to sell the same out of state.
